Smart Manufacturing: Where to start?
15 July 2024
The recurring definition of Smart Industry is that it envisions the future of manufacturing where, thanks to digital technologies, companies will increase their competitiveness and efficiency through the interconnection and cooperation of their resources (physical assets, people, information), whether internal to the factory or distributed along the value chain.
In the foreseeable future of Smart Manufacturing, raw materials, plants, and finished products will be equipped with sensors that will identify them and detect their status, location, and activity. The collected data will then be analyzed to improve production capacity and efficiency, but not only that. This analysis will also encompass the workforce, through real-time monitoring of productivity, safety, and performance.
